The object is to improve the basketball passing skills, accuracy and technique of the player. This basketball drill also gets a little fitness in as well.




Description
The object is to improve the basketball passing skills, accuracy and technique of the player. This basketball drill also gets a little fitness in as well.

Setup

  1. Put the players in two lines starting on one baseline.  
  2. Each player in the left line needs a basketball.



Instructions

  1. The front player in both lines face each other.  
  2. The player with the basketball begins the drill by passing to the player across from him.  
  3. Both players begin down the court (either shuffling or running) passing the basketball back and forth as they go.  
  4. Stop at the other end of the court.  
  5. When one group gets to the three point line the next group can go.


Variations

  • Use all the different types of basketball passes.  Chest pass, bounce pass, overhead pass etc.  
  • Vary the distance between the passes.
  • Allow the kids to finish with a layup or jump-shot at the other end.


Coaching Points

  • Focus on proper passing technique.  
  • Focus on accuracy and footwork.  
  • Make sure they are in control and making each pass correctly. 
  • No travelling!
