Drill Objective

The objective of the spider dribble is to improve your dribbling skills with both hands around all parts of the body.

Drill Setup

All you need is a ball.

Drill Instructions

Spread your legs and dribble the basketball with your right hand then pass it to the left hand.
Dribble the ball with your left hand and pass it between your legs to the right hand.  Basically you are making a figure eight threw your legs and around your body.  Dribble the ball with your right hand around your right leg, behind your back and pass it forward thru your legs to the left hand. Then dribble lefthanded around your left leg, behind your back and pass the ball forward thru your legs to your right hand completing the figure eight motion.

This will help improve your ball handling and dribbling with both hands as well as helping you get comfortable putting the ball thru your legs.

Drill Variations

Drill Coach Points

Start slowly at first and concentrate on doing it correctly rather than with speed.  As you get better speed up and keep the ball lower to the ground.
