Proper balance, quickness and agility are the foundations of playing good basketball.  You cannot be a productive basketball player without focusing on these areas.  Proper balance provides explosive, quick movement.  Explosive quickness is the priority of great one on one basketball.

What is proper balance?  How does one get that balance?  There are two types of proper balance.  The first type is needed when running full court where speed is more important than control.  You want an erect stance with your head directly over your torso leaning slightly forward.  A longer stride landing on your toes each stride.

The second is control balance which requires a shorter step and more bend at the knees. Quickness comes from proper balance.  It requires playing on your toes.  Concentration and intensity inhances quickness.Agility is the control of your body.  As an athlete you will ask your body to to be in many contortions as you play defense or fight for rebounds.
